How the folds work

A dress built to unfold

Why SOLVEMII shows its fold panels and tabs instead of hiding them, how a dress goes from week 12 to nursing, and what we do not do.

Most maternity clothes hide the part that changes. Elastic panels sit under a hem, ties are tucked away, extra fabric is gathered where nobody can see it. We went the other way.

The adjustment is the design

A SOLVEMII dress is built like a small building that has to grow with the person inside it. Fold panels are the walls that can move. Tabs are the latches. Instead of hiding them, we draw them on the outside: a row of burnt-ochre tabs down the front, a pleat that runs from the yoke to the hem, a curved seam that opens like a vault.

Closed, the dress is sharp and structured. As the weeks go by you open one tab, then another, and the panels unfold. The line stays architectural the whole way; it just gets wider.

From week 12 to nursing

Every piece has a range: the weeks it is designed for. Most of our dresses start at week 12 and open all the way to week 40. Twelve of them also have a nursing opening (a placket, a flap or a side access), so after birth you close the panels again and keep wearing the same dress.

One detail, five kinds of piece

The same fold and the same tab appear on everything we make. Nursing tops hide their openings under a fold flap. Carryalls open their pleated gussets tab by tab, from day bag to hospital bag. Headbands are a folded band with one tab. Lounge socks carry the fold in their rib cuff. Six colours run through all of it, so pieces bought months apart still belong together.

What we do not do

  • We do not make support, compression or shaping garments, and we make no health claims.
  • We do not run countdowns, flash sales or discount codes.
  • We do not show reviews we cannot verify.

Six colours

Every piece comes in colours from the same six.

So a dress, a nursing top, a carryall, a headband and socks bought months apart still belong together.
